The scale of my work is important. After all, they are physical paintings, not digital. They stand on their own as isolated digital images, but they were designed to be a set physical size and are best seen as such - at scale. I paint large on purpose. The epic has always called to me. Because I paint large, I am able to pump my works full of stylistic details and subtlety. The challenge of creating a large cohesive painting is rewarding. The larger I paint it, the tougher it is to tie everything together into harmony; it's much easier to see an entire painting if its the size of a piece of paper - I can only see my entire paintings when I leave the easel and take a huge step back.
*for reference, I am 6' tall.
